Four week block of 2 hourly sessions - starting on the 8th of January. 6pm - 8pm

Hi there !! I’m so excited to be ready to welcome you to my glorious studio for wheel throwing lessons. Over the course of the four weeks you can expect to throw some simple vessels and even try your hand at trimming and glazing. We will be throwing with my favourite stoneware, which is lovely and smooth.

Week One - After we’ve all got to know each other a little I’ll demo on my wheel - and then it will be your turn to have a go!

Week Two - This is your session to really get stuck in as you’ll be throwing as many pots as you like. The best ones will be set aside to dry a little so they are ready for the session in week three.

Week Three - Your treasured creations will now be dry enough for the next step - trimming. You’ll refine the shape of your pots by cutting away excess clay with special tools. You can even add a foot! This part is super fun and gives your pots a pro look. These pots will then be set aside to dry ready for week four.

Week Four - Glazing! By the time you come along for this session I’ll have your pots bisque fired for you so they are ready for glazing! This is where the magic happens. I’ll be focusing on beginner friendly paint on commercial glazes - but if you want to get stuck into dipping and pouring just let me know and I can cover that too.

Studio info - the studio is not far from Edinburgh in Dalgety Bay. I have private parking for seven cars if you are driving to lessons. If you are coming by bus the stagecoach X58 stops very close by, and Dalgety Bay also has a train station (it is about a 15/20 minute walk to the studio).

Please arrive 10 mins or so early for sessions to allow you to get settled and grab a tea or coffee. Wear comfortable clothes that you won’t mind getting a little muddy - I tend to wear a large man’s shirt over my tops. You’ll want to remove any rings (I certainly do anyway) and tie long hair back. And the studio is LARGE.

When you book don’t forget to provide your email address and even better - your phone number so that I can get in touch.  Classes require a minimum of three people to go ahead and can accommodate a maximum of 5. Over 16 only please.
